“Muslims make up just 6% of the population of Europe, and have consistently committed less than 0.5% of the terrorist attacks over the last 5 years. Much is still unknown about the attackers, yet already there has been a widespread consensus that this is the result of Islamic extremism. Today all Muslims in Britain are being blamed for the actions of two men. Particularly shocking was the BBC’s Nick Robinson rushing to say the men were of “Muslim appearance”, and the reporter on ITV news describes it as the “day that Baghdad style violence came to South London.”

The media’s repeated scapegoating of the Muslim population and its continual ‘clash of civilisations’ narrative must be challenged. It is time we recognise and fight against the distorted depictions of Muslims we see every day in the media. When a Muslim murders a white man it is denounced as terrorism and considered worthy of rolling news coverage but when a Muslim is killed in a racist attack, like the one on 75 year-old Mohammed Saleem in Birmingham earlier this month, it is treated as a one-off murder and largely ignored. These blatant double standards are not acceptable.” — We Will Not Let Fear Divide Us. Stand Against Racism. (via foucaultthehaters)

ibeer-youbeer:

Tree: Mellow Moon (pineapple wit)
Pours cloudy peach, half finger of short lived head. Pineapple could be smelled as soon as the bottle was cracked, but also some peach and plum on the nose. Nice and light yeast also discernible.Mouth is super clean and fresh, solid fruit presence. Not a whole lot of yeast, maybe a titch on the end. Fruit flavour is lively without any of the chemical undertones I’ve found in some pineapple beers. Finish is a bit short. Not complex or especially rich, but that’s not the goal: a fun and thirst quenching patio beer, and a worthy response to P49’s Seedspitter (which is finally back and rocking my socks even more than it did last summer). Also, points for a label which looks eerily similar to forgotten but still creepy McDonalds’ mascot Mac Tonite.
Pairing: Fresh summer fun. Kite, “II”.

I tried this one on Saturday night and quite enjoyed it. Also P49’s Seedspitter is one of my favourite summer beers.Bruce make it so I can leave comments on your tumblr posts!

Things.
1. Today Alexis and I booked our plane tickets to Reykjavik! LAND OF ICE AND FIRE - HERE WE COME. I will be there for my birthday which is good, because I hate my birthday and now I can avoid people and surprises.
2. I graduate in 6 weeks.
3. As you can see in the photo, I got a tattoo on the front of my shoulder there and I like it a lot.
